Hugo Meyer made a series of “Kinon” projection lenses, which are in demand for their swirly bokeh. The fastest of these is a f1.6 lens, which is very expensive these days, The 5cm f1.8 is relatively affordable. This lens came to me with one of the rear elements flipped, which I did not realize at first. All I knew is that the look was very unique. After some experimenting, I did get it back to the original configuration, but after shooting with it decided I liked the modified look better. As modified, it is very sharp in the center (though with some highlight blooming). The bokeh is totally crazy, very textured. The look is most successful at close focusing distances, and I have grown to like it very much, when it works. The lens covers nearly full frame, and will fill the frame when focused close.
