Elgeet Cine Navitar 3 inch f1.9 cine lens

Here is a longer version of the Cine Navitar 2 inch f1.5 with quite similar characteristics. It seems to be Petzval in design, and has the usual swirly bokeh of the Petzval. The 3 inch version, however, has smoother bokeh than the 2 inch one, and is notably sharper and more contrasty, without the highlight blooming that I have found on the 2 inch.

When I originally got this lens I was quite disappointed with the image circle, which was essentially MFT, as compared to the APS-C coverage of the 2 inch Cine Navitar, and put it aside for a long time. Recently, however, I realized that the back mount, just behind the C mount threads, contained a baffle to limit the image circle. I filed it off and suddenly the lens showed its true image circle, which is comparable to the 2 inch, meaning with minimal but noticeable corner cutoff on APS-C.

This lens, as it came, suffered from severe flare. Unscrewing the front element, I noticed that the long barrel has no light baffling, and was quite shiny. Coating this with matte black paint reduced the problem considerably.
